Halloween Traditions

I'm just so proud of myself this year for actually making a jack-o-lantern. Marty was the force behind it. We kept talking about it, but I just wasn't looking forward to the mess. But we finally buckled down and got creative. And I think our spooky pumpkin turned out pretty good! Here is a picture of it with my new camera. Pretty good image I think!

Palin and McCain '08

Thanks to the Republican ticket, I awoke with a start one day realizing who I needed to be for Halloween this year. Sarah Palin wasn't too much of a stretch for me and my costume was free! Okay, except for the campaign buttons and Glade's white hair spray. But seriously, what an easy costume and I think we pulled it off. We went to Kirk and Heidi Tidwell's annual neighborhood party and since I was single this year, Glade (Kirk's brother and my ex-boyfriend - wait, Glade - did our relationship ever get there?) was kind enough to be my date. He blended with all of the married folks quite well and we had a great time playing games (yes, Heidi, I did win the Limbo) and ate delicious food. Happy Halloween to one and all!

GOAL!

I had the unique opportunity of being one of 22,000 people (haha) who got to attend the first REAL soccer game in their new stadium last night. It was quite a production with a lot of excitement everywhere. Since I know practically nothing about the game I wasn't sure how entertaining it would be for me. But the sport was easy enough to follow and each team got exactly one goal. Hmm. I guess scoring is pretty hard. So boy was that one goal for our team celebrated! Confetti and streamers galore! It was a really cold night but my date and I stuck it out the whole time - even the 4 minutes of 'overtime'.
